HP V24ib Productivity Monitor Review

The HP V24ib is the upgraded and newer model of the HP V24i with a slightly better design and connectivity. It was launched in 2021, and right now, it is one of the best selling monitors on Amazon for productivity. It is a complete package for home-office productivity, but there are some features that the HP 24ib misses out on, but it is acceptable for the reasonable price tag.

If you are looking for a monitor for somewhere around $150, the HP V24ib should be an ideal choice for you. It is not for gamers, but it serves professionals’ needs, and it is great for offices because of its IPS screen and sleek design.

If you are looking for a productivity monitor at a highly approachable price, the HP V24ib should be your consideration. It serves basic home-office purposes, and this IPS panel’s colors and viewing angles are excellent.

It misses out on speakers, but that is not a big deal because the built-in speakers do not offer much fidelity. The stand is not adjustable like the HP 24mh and HP VH240a, but you cannot expect much from a monitor at a reasonable price. Although, you do get VESA mount holes on the back for mounting purposes.

The HP V24ib is excellent for productivity because of its sharp and clear bezel-free IPS screen. It is not ideal for gamers because of its low refresh rate and no VRR support.

Watching movies can be great because it has decent colors and wide viewing angles, but it does not get much bright. Basic media creation is possible, but professionals won’t be satisfied.

Design & Ergonomics

Front

hp v24ib front

Monitor Type – Flat
Width – 52.7cm
Height – 41.3 cm

The front of the HP V24ib is clean and minimal, and it looks like a proper business monitor. Bezels are thin as you would expect from a modern monitor.

It comes finished in black, and you get HP branding in the middle of the bottom bezel. An LED light on the right side indicates the display status, and you also get buttons for the OSD menu.

Back

hp v24ib back

Depth – 17.4 cm
VESA Mount – 100x100mm
Ports Position – Down-Facing

The back is plain, and it is also finished in black. You do not get HP branding on the back, but you get vents for heat circulation. There are VESA holes in the center for mounting purposes, and the ports are down-facing.

Bezels 10/10

hp v24ib bezels

Thinness – N/A

The HP V24ib has thin bezels, we do not have exact measurements, but it looks thinner than most modern monitors. Hence, making it highly suitable for dual setups.

The thin bezels enhance the look and provide a continuous view of the two monitors. However, the bottom bezel is thick because you get HP branding and electronics for OSD menu buttons.

Build Quality 8/10

hp v24ib build quality

Weight – 3.2 kg

The build quality of the HP V24ib is excellent, and it feels sturdy because the parts are very well put together, as you would expect from a reputed brand like HP.

The weight is a little higher than most 24-inch monitors, proving the build quality to be great. It is plastic but of outstanding quality, and the black finish of the monitor makes it suitable for office and business spaces.

Stand 6/10

hp v24ib stand

Removable Stand – Yes
Cable Management – N/A

The HP V24ib has a stand with a square foot-print, unlike its previous model, which had a round foot-print. Its stand offers a fine grip, and it holds the monitor very well.

It does not take much space, and the square stand suits the monitor’s frame, giving it a professional look, but it has poor ergonomics. The stand is removable and comes detached out of the box.

Ergonomics 4/10

hp v24ib ergonomics

Tilt – 22° Backward, 5° Forward
Swivel – N/A
Height – N/A
Pivot – N/A

The HP V24ib has poor ergonomics, and it only offers a tilt function. It misses out on swivel, height, and pivot function. However, you get VESA mounting holes on the back to mount this monitor on a custom arm.

Consider the HP 24mh or HP VH240a if you care about ergonomics.

Display & Performance

Panel

Panel Type – IPS
Panel Size – 23.8″
Aspect Ratio – 16:10
Panel Depth – 8 bits (6 bits+FRC)

The HP V24ib has an IPS panel, so you get wide viewing angles and excellent colors. It has a 16:10 aspect ratio, so it is taller than most monitors, giving more vertical space for reading long documents and websites.

The panel depth is 8 bits (6 bits + FRC), so it can display a wide range of colors.

Screen Clarity 7/10

Resolution – FHD | 1920x1200p
PPI – 92 PPI

The screen clarity on the HP V24ib is decent. It is not as good as 1440p and 4K monitors, but it is acceptable and highly suitable for home-office tasks.

It lacks screen real estate, so you don’t get much space on the screen hence this is not the best monitor for professional use and multitasking.

Brightness 6/10

Peak Brightness – 250-nits

The HP V24ib has a 250-nits peak brightness. It is sufficient common among budget IPS monitors. There is an anti-glare coating on the front, so that should eliminate most glares and reflections, but it is not the best suitable monitor for well-lit rooms due to its low peak brightness.

Contrast 7/10

Contrast Ratio – 1200:1

The HP V24ib has a slightly better contrast ratio than most budget IPS monitors because you get a 1200:1 static contrast ratio here instead of 1000:1. You will get a slightly better dark room performance than alternatives but not a significant improvement.

Viewing Angles 9/10

Viewing Angles (H/V) – 178°/178°

The HP V24ib has excellent viewing angles, which is common with IPS panels. It is a characteristic of IPS to deliver wide viewing angles. The images stay intact even at extreme side angles, but the top-bottom viewing angles are not that great, and images start to seem dull, so it is not a great monitor for mounting at a height on the wall.

Color Coverage 7/10

NTSC – 72%
sRGB – 99%

The HP V24ib has decent SDR coverage. It is the same as most modern IPS panels, so nothing is extraordinary here, and it is excellent for viewing web visuals, images, documents, and contents.

The 99% sRGB should do the job for basic creative purposes, but it lacks many things, and there are a lot of other features that matter.

Response Time 5/10

Response Time – 14ms

The HP V24ib has a poor 14ms response time, not great for gaming purposes, but it can do casual gaming. If gaming is your priority, you will find a lot of gaming monitors in this price range.

The fast motions do not appear clear, but that goes unnoticeable most of the time. However, extreme fast motions can struggle a bit due to bad motion handling and lack of AMD FreeSync.

Refresh Rate 5/10

Refresh Rate – 60Hz

The refresh rate is limited to 60Hz, not that smooth for 2022, but it should get the job done for productivity. However, a little bit more refresh rate would have been great for casual gaming, but that is acceptable for the cheap price.

BFI N/A

The HP V24ib is a productivity-focused monitor hence it does not have the black frame insertion feature because you will mostly find it in high-end gaming monitors.

HDR N/A

It does not have HDR certification.

Features

Low Blue Light

Like most other productivity monitors, the HP V24ib has a low blue light mode. You get the blue light filter in Windows, Mac, and Linux, but it is great to have this feature built into the monitor itself.

Flicker-Free

Flicker-Free tech ensures that you see every detail on the screen with utmost comfort. It provides a consistent viewing experience by preventing the screen from flickering.

Connectivity

Video Inputs 7/10

1x HDMI 1.4
1x DisplayPort 1.2
1x D-Sub

The HP V24ib has a single HDMI 1.4 port, a single DisplayPort 1.2, and a D-Sub port for video connections. You can use all the video ports simultaneously to keep the devices connected to the monitor.

USB, Other Ports N/A

The HP V24ib does not have any USB ports or audio ports.
