LG 34WQ650-W

The LG 34WQ650-W is a 1080p IPS monitor with 21:9 aspect ratio and 100Hz refresh rate. It is a multi-purpose ultrawide monitor, but the thing I am most impressed by is the pricing.

I believe no other monitor in the industry offers this much value. For around $250, the LG 34WQ650-W is a near complete package for professionals.

It is the minor elements that make a monitor perfect. The same way this ultrawide monitor has excellent screen real estate for multi-tasking, 100Hz refresh rate for gaming, built-in speakers for entertainment, an adjustable stand for your comfort, and USB Type-C port for conveniency.

Design & Ergonomics

  • Monitor Type – Ultrawide
  • Width – 81.65 cm
  • Height – 48.89 cm

The LG 34WQ650-B has a very professional appearance from the front and chassis comes finished in black.

There is LG logo in the middle of bottom bezel and the bezels are super thin except for the bottom one.

It looks very modern from the front because of the stand, especially because of the silver finish in it.

  • Depth – 25.9 cm
  • VESA Mount – 100x100mm
  • Ports – Back-Facing

The LG 34WQ650-B has a white finish at the back.

The design is mostly clean with some back-facing connectivity ports and vents at the top for air circulation.

It supports 100x100mm VESA interface for wall mounting.

The monitor is not that deep considering that it offers adjustments.

It is around 4 cm deeper than its fixed display model.

  • Thinness – N/A

The bezels of LG 34WQ650-W are thin like you would expect from any modern monitor.

However, the bottom bezel is thick like most other monitors.

These thin bezels are ideal for dual setups, but I do not recommend with this size and aspect ratio.

Build Quality

  • Weight – 17.42 lbs

The build quality of this monitor is good, although the parts are plastic.

The parts are placed perfectly together as there no gaps or loose elements.

It is heavier than its fixed model LG 34WQ500-W, and that is due to the stand mechanism.

  • Removable Stand – Yes
  • Cable Management – Yes

The LG 34WQ650-B monitor has a removable stand so make sure to remove it while mounting.

It has click mechanism for attaching and detaching the stand.

Apart from that, this monitor also has a cable management clip on the stand for routing the cables.

Hence, it is possible to make a cable-free setup with this monitor.

  • Tilt – 15° Backward
  • Swivel – N/A
  • Height – 110 mm
  • Pivot – N/A

The LG 34WQ650-B has satisfactory ergonomics because it offers height and tilt functions.

It can go 110 mm up and down which is decent, but there is no swivel function on this monitor.

Display & Performance

  • Panel Type – IPS
  • Panel Size – 34-inch
  • Aspect Ratio – 21:9
  • Panel Depth – 8 bits (6 bits+FRC)

The LG 34WQ650-B features an IPS panel with 34-inch screen size and that feels super comfortable.

It offers excellent visibility for coding and video editing purposes.

This IPS panel with 21:9 aspect ratio and panel depth of 8 bits so it can display 16.7 million colors.

Its wide aspect ratio provides immersive office and gaming experience.

Screen Clarity

  • Resolution – 2560x1080p
  • PPI – 82 PPI

The LG 34WQ650-B monitor has FHD screen resolution with 2560×1080 pixels resolution.

It results in average 82 PPI on the 34-inch screen size.

The screen clarity is acceptable, but the visibility is fantastic.

I would recommend placing this monitor at a distance for the best results.

There are also curved models of this monitor which I highly recommend i.e LG 34WQ60C-B (read review) and LG 34WQ75C-B (read review).

  • Peak Brightness – 400-nits

The LG 34WQ650-W has superb 400-nits peak brightness and that is perfect for bright rooms.

There is an anti-glare coating on the display which should eliminate most glares and reflections.

  • Contrast Ratio – 1000:1

This monitor’s contrast ratio is 1000:1, which is standard for IPS monitors, and the blacks appear grayish in the dark.

It might not bother most, but if you do color-accurate tasks in the dark, this monitor is not a great choice for you.

Viewing Angles

  • Viewing Angles – 178°

The viewing angles are super-wide, and that is common with IPS panels.

It is perfect for sharing your work with client or colleague sitting on the side.

Color Coverage

  • sRGB – 99%

The color coverage is good with the 99% sRGB on this monitor, which is perfect for viewing SDR content.

It produces vibrant colors bringing the viewing experience true-to-life.

Response Time

  • Response Time – 1 ms MBR

The LG 34WQ650-W has 1 ms minimum response time which should handle everyday motion-intensive tasks and gaming.

It is only possible when you select the MBR (Motion Blur Reduction) mode from the OSD menu.

Refresh Rate

  • Refresh Rate – 100Hz

This monitor from LG can reach 100Hz refresh rate at its max. It provides decent smoothness for office and gaming requirements.

If gaming is your top requirement, check out these budget gaming monitors for more options.

  • Black Frame Insertion – Yes

The LG 34WQ650-W has black frame insertion technology which LG calls Motion Blur Reduction.

  • HDR – HDR 10, VESA DisplayHDR 400

The LG 34WQ650-W is HDR 10 and VESA DisplayHDR 400 certified.

I think it offers satisfactory HDR performance, but there is no wide color gamut.

AMD FreeSync

This gaming monitor supports variable refresh rate. It supports AMD FreeSync at it max refresh rate for consistent and tear-free high refresh rate gaming.

Black Stabilizer

Black Stabilizer boosts contrast ratio of dark scenes so that you can see the visuals with utmost clarity.

This monitor has LG’s screen split feature for tiling up all your applications side-by-side so that you can multitask upon them efficiently.

Crosshair feature displays a crosshair in the middle of the screen so that you can get ultimate accuracy while playing first person shooter gamers.

Dynamic Action Sync decreases the input lag to the lowest so that you can have a responsive gaming experience.

HDR Effect

It has vaiours HDR effects for games and entertainment purposes.

Built-in Speakers

The LG 34WQ650-W houses dual 7W speakers and that makes it perfect for entertainment. They are down-facing speakers, so you get decent sound effects.

Reader Mode

This monitor has a dedicated reader mode that removes harmful blue light from the screen.

Video Inputs

  • 1x HDMI 2.0
  • 1x DisplayPort 1.4

The LG 34WQ650-W has a single HDMI 2.0 port and a single DisplayPort 1.4 and both the video ports support max 100Hz refresh rate.

USB, Other Ports

  • 1x USB Type-C (DP Alt Mode, 65W PD)
  • 1x 3.5mm Audio Out

There is a single USB Type-C port on this monitor that supports DP Alt Mode and 65W power delivery.

It also has a single 3.5mm audio out port.

However, there are no USB Type-A port for connecting accessories like hard-drive or pen-drive.

Other ultrawide monitors from the manufacturer.

I think the LG 34WQ650-W is one of the best LG monitors in the industry right now, but I would prefer its curved model any day because the large screen would result in constant neck movement.

However, if you want to save your few bucks, you can get this monitor because it is an excellent value for money monitor, but make sure to put it at a distance.
