The LG 34WQ500-B is a large ultrawide monitor with 1080p screen resolution and 100Hz maximum refresh rate for productivity.
It is a proper large ultrawide monitor with 21:9 aspect ratio flat screen. This particular model is successor of the LG 29WQ500-B (read review) with a larger and brighter IPS panel.
The LG 34WQ500-B is a lower trim model of the LG’s 34WQ ultrawide monitor series which is why it lacks some features like built-in speakers, height adjustable stand, and USB ports.
This ultrawide monitor is for those who require good visibility of the screen from a distance. It combines good set of features which makes it a good ultrawide monitor for office, entertainment, and gaming.

Design & Ergonomics
Front

- Monitor Type – Flat Ultrawide
- Width – 81.65cm
- Height – 48.37 cm
The LG 34WQ500-B has an all-black design and it looks highly professional.
The chassis seems thin and the overall profile of this monitor is very slim
It requires good amount of space on the desk since the monitor is too wide.
One thing I believe that this size is not the most comfortable for viewing.
Hence, I would prefer a curved monitor for a display of this size.
Back

- Depth – 22.33 cm
- VESA Mount – 100x100mm
- Ports Position – Back-Facing
The LG 34WQ500-B has a clean design from the back.
However, the black finish attracts a lot of dust over time, so make sure to clean it often.
The monitor is not that deep, requiring a little less space on the desk compared to other big monitors.
There are holes for VESA mounting on the back, and the ports are back-facing.
Bezels

- Thinness – N/A
The bezels are super thin on the LG 34WQ500-B.
However, the bottom bezel is thicker than the other three which is common.
The bezels of this monitor are ideal for multiple display setup, but the ultrawides are not the best fit for that.
Build Quality

- Weight – 15.21 lbs
The build quality of this monitor is good, and it is heavy at 15.21 lbs.
Make sure to opt for a good quality monitor arm if you are planning to mount this monitor.
The build is mostly plastic, except for the stand, and the parts are very well put together.
Stand

- Removable Stand – Yes
- Cable Management – N/A
The LG 34WQ500-B monitor has a removable stand so make sure to remove it while mounting.
It has mechanism for attaching and detaching the stand.
However, this monitor does not have a cable management hole on the stand for routing the cables.
Hence, it is hard to build a cable-free desk setup with this monitor.
Ergonomics

- Tilt – 15° Backward
- Swivel – N/A
- Height – N/A
- Pivot – N/A
The LG 34WQ500-B has a tilt adjustable stand.
Unfortunately, there are no swivel and height adjust functions.
However, you can mount this monitor on a flexible monitor arm.

- Panel Size – 34-inch
- Aspect Ratio – 21:9
- Panel Depth – 8 bits (6 bits+FRC)
The LG 34WQ500-B features an IPS panel with 34-inch screen size and that feels super comfortable.
It offers excellent visibility for coding and video editing purposes.

Its wide aspect ratio provides immersive office and gaming experience.
Screen Clarity
- Resolution – FHD | 2560x1080p
- PPI – 82 PPI
The LG 34WQ500-B monitor has FHD screen resolution with 2560×1080 pixels resolution.
It results in average 82 PPI on the 34-inch screen size.
The screen clarity is not that great for reading since individual pixels are visible.
However, while viewing from a distance that should not create any problem.
Brightness
- Peak Brightness – 400-nits
The LG 34WQ500-B has superb 400-nits peak brightness and that is perfect bright rooms.
There is an anti-glare coating on the panel which should eliminate most glares and reflections.
Contrast
- Contrast Ratio – 1000:1
This monitor’s contrast ratio is 1000:1, which is standard for IPS monitors.
However, the blacks appear grayish in the dark.
It might not bother most, but if you do color-accurate tasks in the dark, this monitor is not a great choice for you.
Viewing Angles
- Viewing Angles – 178°
LG claims 178-degrees vertical viewing angles which is excellent because the colors do not fade.
Hence it is a perfect monitor to mount at a height on the wall.
The horizontal viewing angles are also wide, making it perfect for sharing the work with clients or colleague sitting on the side.
Color Coverage
- sRGB – 99%
The color coverage is good with the 99% sRGB on this monitor, which is perfect for viewing SDR content.
It produces vibrant colors bringing the viewing experience true-to-life.
Tasks like graphic designing, video-editing, and coding are highly suitable for this monitor.
Response Time
- Response Time – 1 ms MBR
The LG 34WQ500-B has 5 ms average response time which makes it reasonably good for gaming.
However, there is an MBR mode (Motion Blur Reduction) that lowers the input lag as well as response time to 1ms.
The motions appear super smooth and there is no noticeable smearing or tearing.
Refresh Rate
- Refresh Rate – 100Hz
This monitor from LG can reach max 100Hz refresh rate.
The motion smoothness is excellent and it feels like a gaming monitor.
It is perfect for taking your gaming experience above the causal tier.
BFI
- Black Frame Insertion – Yes
The LG 34WQ500-B has black frame insertion technology which LG calls Motion Blur Reduction.
HDR
- HDR – HDR 10,
- HDR – VESA DisplayHDR 400
The LG 34WQ500-B is HDR 10 and VESA DisplayHDR 400 certified.
We think it offers satisfactory HDR performance, but not the best because it lacks wide color gamut.

I think the LG 34WQ500-B is a good budget large ultrawide monitor for your desk, only if you do not need an adjustable stand, speakers, and height adjustable stand.
There is also an adjustable model of this monitor available, but that costs a little bit more.
I believe the LG 34WQ500-B offers perfect balance of all the things. It has ample screen real estate for work, 100Hz refresh rate for gaming, and HDR for entertainment.
The price-tag of around $249 is easily approachable for most and I believe you should should not have any complaints with the missing features because of its reasonable price.
