Dell P2419H: Full HD IPS Business Monitor with Rich Connectivity & Ergonomics

dell p2419h review

The Dell P2419H is a basic IPS monitor that serves its purpose with optimum reliability. There are no gimmicks or any attractive features as such on the monitor, but the quality it offers is unmatched in this segment.

The connectivity options are rich, and the stand is fully adjustable as any user would expect. Unlike other productivity monitors, the Dell P2419H checks all the boxes and seems an entirely perfect monitor.

It’s a successor to the Dell P2417H which is the older contender in the productivity range of monitors from Dell.

Dell P2419H Productivity Monitor: Detailed Review

4 5 0 1
If you are out in the market for a monitor, the Dell P2419H is a great option, but it is priced relatively higher than the competitors. If you have already researched a bit, you would have noticed that the Dell P2419H has the same display specifications as BenQ GW2480 & HP VH240A. They both are great monitors, and yes, the visuals would seem precisely the same on all of them. The point is, should you really spend extra for connectivity ports, and slightly better build?

Well, if your budget allows, I would say skip all of the options and go with the Dell P2419H if your only purpose is productivity. It’s the complete package!

Design & Aesthetics

Dell P2419H monitor review

The main selling of the Dell P2419H is its design and reliability since the same screen performance is available at a lower price as well. The build feels premium and the overall design of the monitor is very elegant.

What makes it even more purposeful is its frameless design that looks excellent, which doubles up as a benefit in multiple monitor setup. It’s bezel-less from sides and thick at the bottom because the Dell logo goes there, and there’s a small LED indicator.

The buttons for OSD are down-facing on the bottom side, which is not the most convenient to reach in my opinion.

On the right side, you get dual USB ports which is excellent and easy to access. There are more USB ports on the back for those who are wondering; these twos are online given separately for convenience purpose.

The stand comes detached out of the box like most monitors. It needs assembly which doesn’t take much time and is seamless. It’s a fully adjustable and multi-purpose stand that has relatively small footprint which does occupy some space on the desk if you are concerned about that.

It offers a superior grip, and it doesn’t wobble as such. The stand has a metal finish on the top that looks very premium. The main benefit is it doesn’t look dirty even if it attracts dust so look-wise it is not going lose its charm over time.

Performance & Picture Quality

Dell P2419H business monitor

The Dell P2419H comes with an IPS panel under the hood, which is excellent for productivity. The panel never seems dull. It is bright and has excellent color reproduction for most tasks. The panel is mostly suited for business and productivity purposes. It has superb color performance, but it is not accurate.

For color-critical tasks, you may need to calibrate a bit. It packs 1920 x 1080 pixels, which gives an excellent mixture of sharpness and screen space. The texts appear super sharp, and the visuals look clear, thanks to its 92ppi.

The monitor has a fairly good dark-room performance. The 1000:1 static contrast ratio does an excellent job of portraying blacks in a well-lit room. However, in dark-room conditions, the monitor struggles a bit, and the black appears gray.

This won’t affect most users, and the difference is barely noticeable, but if you watch movies and play games in the dark, it might affect your experience.

The panel on Dell P2419H focuses on providing picture quality rather than speed. With the minimum response time of 5ms, the monitor is ideal for playing games, but the average delay was around 10ms in our test.

For casual gamers, the Dell P2419H would do the job, although we don’t think it will attract gamers much as there are better alternatives available in this price segment for gaming.

Features

Dell P2419H features

The Dell P2419H has an excellent array of productivity features that make you go through your workload efficiently.

Dell offers the Easy Arrange feature that tiles up multiple windows side by side so that you can work upon them at the same time. It analyses free space on the screen and lets you select windows, which is excellent.

You get Blue Light Filter in the OSD to save your eyes from straining. It doesn’t have any VRR technology, such as FreeSync, but it does come with Flicker-Free Technology, which prevents the screen from flickering to give you an exact look of fast-paced visuals.

Ergonomics & Ports

1. Power Connector | 2. HDMI Port | 3. Stand Lock Feature | 4. DisplayPort | 5. VGA Connector | 6. USB Upstream Port | 7. USB Downstream Ports | 8. USB Downstream Ports

This is where the Dell P2419H stands out from other monitors. It’s a complete package of ergonomics and ports as the stand comes fully adjustable out of the box. The monitor swivels 45-degrees on both the sides, which is excellent and purposeful for multiple monitor setup to give you that centre-focused view. You get 130mm of travel for height adjustment with 5-degrees forward and 21-degrees backwards tilt options. The stand mechanism for adjustments is excellent, which doesn’t need much effort, thanks to its premium hinges. You also get VESA mount setup on the back if you want to mount this monitor on a custom monitor arm.

On the connectivity front, the Dell P2419H is very well equipped with ports that follow the latest standards. You get 5x USB ports, an HMDI, a DisplayPort, and a D-Sub which makes the Dell P2419H a complete productivity business monitor.

Comparison of Dell P2419H, HP 24MH, Samsung FT452

As you can notice in the chart, the Dell P2419H is clearly the best monitor for productivity among all with its fully adjustable stand plus you get Dell’s reliability. Although the Samsung FT452 comes with a fully adjustable stand, it doesn’t feel as smooth as Dell P2419H’s mechanism.

The Dell P2419H would be able to deliver a pleasant gaming experience, but if you want more smoothness, then the other two options are better as they possess a 75Hz refresh rate and FreeSync.

Overall

Dell P2419H Detailed Review
4 5 0 1
The Dell P2419H is an excellent budget IPS monitor for productivity purposes. It is well suited for offices and work from home purposes. If you are bored with your small laptop screen, then this monitor could be a significant upgrade for your work from home setup. It has an excellent screen that delivers optimum sharpness, brightness, and screen space with bright colors. This monitor might not be for gamers, and there are options with a higher refresh rate and FreeSync so if your purpose is gaming, look at the alternatives. The Dell P2419H will give a pleasant gaming experience, but it is not the best performer in the segment. Instead, it provides a properly balanced mixture of productivity and casual gaming.
The Dell P2419H is a basic IPS monitor that serves its purpose with optimum reliability. There are no gimmicks or any attractive features as such on the monitor, but the quality it offers is unmatched in this segment.
