AOC 27B2H Monitor Review

AOC-27B2H-Review

The AOC 27B2H is an IPS office monitor under $150. It is a basic yet professional looking monitor with good colors, wide viewing angles, and frameless design. We recommend this monitor for professional spaces and is also an ideal choice for dual setups due to its thin bezels. It is a bigger model of the AOC 24B2XH which we reviewed earlier.

Although it is a budget IPS monitor, it still comes with a lot of feature for eye-care and that makes it one of our most recommended IPS monitors for professionals because eye-strain is a common problem nowadays. Unfortunately, this monitor does not have speakers, but you do get VESA mounting holes at the back for mounting purposes.

Height45.6 cm

The AOC 27B2H has a very clean appearance from the front and it comes finished in black color, making it suitable for office spaces. It looks elegant and has a premium look with those thin bezels.

There is AOC logo in the middle of bottom bezel and the stand has rectangle footprint with curvy edges and that looks good to the eyes.

Back

AOC-27B2H-Back

Depth18.2 cm
VESA Mount – 100x100mm
Ports Position – Back-Facing

The AOC 27B2H has a clean design from the back and it seems like a very thin chassis giving a thin profile to the monitor. There is a big AOC branding on the back with back-facing connectivity ports.

It supports VESA mounting with 100x100mm interface and it is possible to mount this monitor on a custom monitor arm or wall for adjustments.

Bezels

AOC-27B2H-Bezels

Thinness – N/A

The bezels on the AOC 27B2H are very thin from all the four sides. Its bottom bezel is quite thicker than the other three but it is thinner than other monitors in the industry.

It looks so premium with that frameless design and also makes it super compatible with dual setups.

Build Quality

AOC-27B2H-Build

Weight7.94 lbs

The AOC 27B2H has acceptable build quality and is a light weight for a 27-inch monitor size. It weighs 7.94 lbs to be precise.

The parts are made up of plastic, but they seem to be of very good quality. Also the part seem very well fitted together as there are no noticeable gaps.

Stand

AOC-27B2H-Stand

Removable Stand – Yes
Cable Management – N/A

The AOC 27B2H has a removable stand so when you mount this monitor, it needs to be removed.

This monitor does not have a cable management hole on the stand for routing the cables. Hence, it is hard to build a cable-free setup with this monitor.

Ergonomics

AOC-27B2H-Tilt

Tilt – 21.5° Backward, 3.5° Forward
Swivel – N/A
Height – N/A
Pivot – N/A

The AOC 27B2H has terrible ergonomics since it only offers tilt function, making it poor ergonomically.

However, the backward tilt range is wide because most monitors go only 15-degrees backward.

Display & Performance

Panel

Panel Type – IPS
Panel Size – 27-inch
Aspect Ratio – 16:9
Panel Depth – 8 bits (6 bits+FRC)

The AOC 27B2H houses an IPS panel with 27-inch screen size and that offers excellent color coverage with wide viewing angles

This monitor comes with 16:9 aspect ratio with panel depth of 8 bits so it can display 16.7 million colors which makes it a colorful panel for most tasks.

Screen Clarity

Resolution – FHD | 1920x1080p
PPI – 81 PPI

This monitor has FHD screen resolution which means 1920×1080 pixels resolution and that results in 81 PPI on the 27-inch screen size.

This budget IPS monitor has average text clarity, but it is great for viewing from a distance. It offers fantastic visibility so you will be able to put this monitor at a comfortable distance compared to small 24-inch monitors.

Brightness

Peak Brightness – 250-nits

The AOC 27B2H has mediocre 250-nits peak brightness and that is insufficient for a monitor of this size. It seems quite dull in a well-lit room.

The reflection handling is acceptable because of the anti-glare coating on the display, but it would have been excellent with a high peak brightness.

Contrast

Contrast Ratio – 1000:1

This monitor’s contrast ratio is 1000:1, which is average and not as good as VA monitors.

It goes unnoticeable for most, but this monitor displays black as little bit on the grayish side in the dark due to its low contrast ratio.

Viewing Angles

Viewing Angles (H/V) – 178°/178°

The AOC 27B2H has excellent wide viewing angles and the colors do not shift while viewing from the sides or top-bottom angle, making it perfect for mounting this monitor at a height.

Color Coverage

NTSC – 89%
sRGB – 101%

The color coverage is standard 101% sRGB on this monitor, which is a little bit higher than other budget IPS monitors, resulting in slightly better colors and details.

Response Time

Response Time – 8ms

The AOC 27B2H has 8ms minimum response time and it should not bother office users, but if you are a gamer, you should definitely skip this one. Consider the LG 27MK600M-B because it has lower response time and also offers AMD FreeSync.

Refresh Rate

Refresh Rate – 75Hz

The refresh rate is limited to 75Hz only so that might not interest enthusiastic gamers. Still, it is a smooth monitor for basic use compared to 60Hz monitors. Gamers should check out our cheap high refresh rate gaming monitors that do not break the bank.

BFI

Black Frame Insertion – N/A

The AOC 27B2H does not have BFI (Black Frame Insertion).

HDR

HDRN/A

The AOC 27B2H is not HDR certified.

Features

Flicker-Free

Flicker-Free Technology reduces flicker to zero to provide a consistent viewing experience at all brightness levels.

Low Blue Light

Low Blue Light reduces the harmful blue light emission from the screen that causes eye-strain.

Connectivity

Video Inputs

1x HDMI 1.4
1x D-Sub

The AOC 27B2H provides dual video ports, one is a single HDMI 1.4 port and other is a single D-Sub port. Both the ports support 75Hz refresh rate.

USB, Other Ports

1x 3.5mm Audio Output

It offers dedicated audio output port for headphones or external speakers.

That’s a Wrap!

The AOC 27B2H is a decent IPS budget monitor with a few missed features. It could have been one of the budget monitors, but it lacks speakers and AMD FreeSync that its competitors offer.

It only makes sense to buy this monitor if your primary consideration is colors and a premium-looking design. Otherwise, you will find a lot monitors in this price-segment with the same display configuration as AOC 27B2H along with speakers and AMD FreeSync.
