Acer SB241Y Monitor Review

Acer-SB241Y

The Acer SB241Y is a cheap monitor for home-office use. It is a 1080p monitor with a VA panel that performs excellent in dark-room. We recommend this monitor for dark rooms because VA monitors have better contrast ratio than IPS and TN counterparts. The best part about this monitor is its super affordable pricing and that makes it ideal for office employees setups.

It has many purposeful features that makes it a great deal for cheap buyers. This is a great choice if you are searching for a good monitor for the office to give your employees so they can extend the display. It is also AMD FreeSync certified so causal gamers will be happy to have that.

The Acer SB241Y has a clean design on the back and it comes finished in matte-black. There is a big Acer logo on the right-back of the monitor.

The monitor is not that deep and it does not require much space from the wall. It has ports on the back and they are back-facing. The worst part about this monitor is that it does not support VESA wall mounting.

Bezels

Thinness – N/A

The bezels on the Acer SB241Y are very thin making it seamless for dual setups. This office monitor has a completely frameless chassis which makes it our top choice in the list of bezel-free monitors.

Build Quality

Acer-SB241Y-Build

Weight4.89 lbs (without stand)

The build of Acer SB241Y is mostly plastic, but it is of very good quality resulting in excellent build quality for a cheap monitor and the parts seem very well put together.

Stand

Acer-SB241Y-Stand

Removable Stand – Yes
Cable Management – N/A

The Acer SB241Y has a removable stand but it is of no use since it does not support VESA monitor arms and wall mounting.

This monitor does not have cable management clip or hole for routing the cables. It is a decent stand though because it offers perfect stability against wobbles.

The screen clarity is excellent because of the tight arrangement of pixels which makes it a perfect monitor for reading and office use.

Brightness

Peak Brightness – 250-nits

The Acer SB241Y has 250-nits peak brightness and that feels satisfactory for indoor lighting conditions. This brightness level is standard accross cheap monitor so we have no complaints.

Contrast

Contrast Ratio – 3000:1

The contrast ratio on this monitor is 3000:1, which can reach 1000000:1, making it great for dark rooms. However, the black uniformity is not that great.

We think the Acer SB241Y sits at a great place in the cheap monitors category. It is a easy to recommend monitor for any office professional and home use, but the absence of VESA mount might be a deal breaker for some. Also, there are no speakers.
