The Acer R240HY has an IPS panel, also the text-clarity is decent, which makes it a great monitor for reading and office use.

This monitor does not have FreeSync or Adaptive Sync, but it can do casual gaming.

It does not have built-in speakers so it is not a good choice for entertainment, also there is no HDR or satisfactory screen real estate for professional media creation.

The Acer R240HY has a very clean appearance from the front and it looks premium, making it suitable for office and corporate spaces.

There is Acer logo in the middle of bottom bezel and the bezels are super thin and it looks very understated from the front. The dimensions are not that wide or tall making it a perfect cheap monitor for small spaces in our eyes.

The Acer R240HY looks clean from the back and it seems like a very thin chassis giving a sleek profile to the monitor. There is a big Acer branding on the right-back of the monitor with back-facing connectivity ports.

It does not have VESA mount support, so mounting this monitor on the wall or custom arm is not possible. Check out the HP V24ib and AOC 24B2XH if you want a monitor with VESA mount support.

The Acer R240HY has a very thin profile with a frameless design from three sides. Its bezels are super thin and that makes it a perfect modern monitor. Also, dual setups would work perfectly fine with this monitor.

The build of Acer RH240Y is good for a cheap monitor. It weighs 6.40lbs with stand and we think the build quality is better than the similar priced Sceptre monitors. It is made up of plastic and has the parts very well jointed together.

The Acer R240HY has bad ergonomics because it only offers tilt function, making it poor ergonomically.

Its stand cannot go up-down, swivel or rotate like some monitors, but for the price, it is hard to get an adjustable stand on the monitor. Also, there is not VESA mount support, so it is terrible with the ergonomics.

The Acer R240HY has mediocre 250-nits peak brightness and that is okay for a cheap monitor, but you find bright monitors at this price-point like the Sceptre E249W-FPT.

It should combat glares because of the anti-glare coating on the front, but this monitor is not for bright rooms or placing in front of a window.

This monitor’s contrast ratio is 1000:1, which is not that great for this monitor be called as good dark-room performer.

If you want a good dark-room cheap monitor, get the Koorui Business Monitor because it a VA monitor with high contrast ratio.

The Acer R240HY has excellent wide viewing angles. It can display consistent colors even while viewing from extreme sides. Also, the top-bottom viewing angles are good, making it perfect for putting a height.

The color coverage is standard 99% sRGB on this monitor, which is excellent for viewing SDR content. It produces rich colors making the viewing experience vibrant and true-to-life.

The Acer R240HY has 4ms minimum response time and it has decent motion handling for a cheap monitor for causal gaming. However, its sibling Acer SB241Y is faster at 1ms response time for those who play causal motion intensive games in free-time.

The refresh rate is limited to 60Hz only so that might not interest gamers. Still, it is a smooth monitor for basic office use.
